CityStep : This Year in CityStep

This Year in CityStep

Below is a timeline of the big milestones that occur during a typical year in CityStep. In between these main events we're working hard (and having fun!), but a few times a year we get to come out to play and perform.

  Fall 2006 to Spring 2007

    September 20th & 21st: Company Try-outs

Apply to be a CityStep teacher, composer, or producer! The try-outs and interviews are informal and fun. No experience required. All undergraduates are encouraged to apply!

4-6pm (located in Studio 74) or 9-11pm (located in the MAC Mezzanine

    October 20th: The CityStep Masquerade

The CityStep Ball is one of the most anticipated events of the year and Harvard's only all-campus formal! Join us for a memorable evening—and support the program through our most important fundraising event.

    Mid-December: Mini-Performances

Come get a sneak peak into the CityStep classroom! At the end of the first semester, each class holds a short performance, showcasing some of the dances and activities they have learned so far this year.

    Saturday, March 10, 2007: The All-Day

One of the most exciting days for CityStep, the All Day is the first time that the entire CityStep Company—Cambridge and Harvard students alike—will come together. From 9am until 4pm, we will work hard and play hard as we rehearse for the April show.

March 16, 2007: CityStep Alumni Fundraiser

Time and location TBD. All friends of CityStep are invited to our annual alumni fundraising event in New York City. It's a great chance to catch up with old fellow teachers and support the organization we all love!

    Friday, April 13th, 7:30pm
Saturday, April 14th, 1:00pm and 5:00pm
The CityStep Show, "Keepin' Time"

You are invited to join us at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School for the annual CityStep Show, a completely original dance-theater performance created and performed by Cambridge youth and Harvard undergraduates. The culmination of a year-long collaboration, the original work showcases the creativity and dedication of each class. With entirely original choreography and music, and as many as one hundred people on stage at once, the show is one of the most inspiring and exciting theatrical pieces around.     Late April: Community Picnic

Bring along your picnic basket and join us for an informal picnic that brings together CityStep students, parents, and teachers. This is a great opportunity to reunite after the show and meet other people who are involved in CityStep—or to just join in on a fun afternoon of outdoor games!
